Return of the King – The 2017 Hyundai Elantra
Back when it was launched in 2011, the previous generation Hyundai Elantra took the compact economy car segment by storm. But progress never stands still, so the next generation of Elantra is poised and ready to take the throne once more. Boasting advanced technology and the incredible value expected of the Hyundai name, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra is to rule over the compact sedan segment again.
With a wealth of new technology and a sophisticated new platform, the 2017 Elantra promises to hit well above its weight class. It looks and feels like a vehicle costing thousands more than what’s indicated on its price tag. Of course, stellar fuel economy is still a major advantage of the Elantra, and it fights against the pump with a combination of fuel efficient engines and adjustable driving modes.
If you’re interested in driving the new 2017 Elantra as soon as it lands this spring, be sure to check back here regularly. Or if you just can’t wait to get your hands on an Elantra, we carry new examples from 2016 and 2015, as well as lightly used models from 2014 and earlier.
Engines & Economy
Every Elantra comes standard with a revised 2.0L four-cylinder that produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque while returning up to 7.1L/100km combined. Those seeking even greater fuel efficiency will love the “Eco” model with its turbocharged 1.4L four-cylinder which makes 128 horsepower and 158 lb-ft of torque and will apparently return up to 6.7L/100km combined. For those seeking increased performance, Hyundai promises a more powerful “Sport” model in the near future.
Interior & Comfort
Inside you will be treated to a mature and handsome interior packed with technological features like a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Hyundai’s incredible Blue Link system. Slip inside and enjoy premium touches like adaptive cruise control, an eight-speaker Infinity sound system, and heated front seats. Toss in a sunroof, heated rear seats, and a navigation system, and you have a compact car with all the comforts of a luxury sedan.
Safety has always been a top priority for Hyundai, and the 2017 Elantra continues to push what’s expected of a compact sedan. Advanced systems like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert help keep an eye on what’s happening around you. There’s even Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection which can automatically engage the brakes and prevent a collision from ever taking place.
